Doc's Pineapple Smoothie
This smoothie is based off a recipe to reduce pain and inflammation, as provided by Mike Witort - a man whose passion it is to eradicate chronic disease through drug free living and fueling the body with nutrition.
The key ingredient is the enzyme bromelain, found in the wonderful pineapple. It is a great food to consume when one is having back, knee, joint pain of any kind.
There is more bromelain in the core and outer peel/rind. With the outer rind having the greatest amount. If your blender is powerful enough, like the Ninja IQ extractor, you will not notice any pineapple rind, including the spiney pieces, in your smoothies.
Blend together Mike's basic recipe:
1/2" thick slice of pineapple, core and all - cut into chunks to fit into your blender container easily
1 small organic banana, peeled (1/2 large)
2/3 cup coconut milk, Witort recommends Thai brand as the often found ingredients such as soy and carrageenan - which are highly inflammatory, are missing)
6-8 oz filtered water
1/4 tsp. Celtic or Redmond sea salt (do not skip!)
