About Me:
In 2010 Rita was...
- 80 lbs. heavier
- Blood sugar levels were borderline type 2 diabetic
- chronic back pain, had had 2 back surgeries
- symptoms that indicated risk for colon cancer
Her story is like that of many ... caring for family, working full time, a bicycling accident resulting in ruptured disk, years of pain, surgeries, physical impairment. Weight gain. Improvement after surgeries, but having been ignored for years by medical doctors regarding her back pain...the surgeries did not reverse the neuropathy. Then she had small children. There was no time for self-care, certainly not working out at the gym 5 days a week. Purposeful exercise was minimal. Achy joints, pains, cravings, ebbing energy...disappointment with every attempt at losing weight, and gaining it back.

What IRita learned in 2010 transformed her life!
She put her new found knowledge to use and lost 85 lbs. in 9 months - and guess what? She did not exercise all that much. Physical activity IS important, however, she was not onlyshort on time, Rita had atrophy in a leg due to sciatica injury that was too long ignored, and for which the orthopedic surgeon said there would be little chance of regaining full use of foot. Her journey really proved what she had heard...80% of weight loss comes from lifestyle changes: diet, detoxification, determination. Twenty percent comes from physical exercise. Rita's journey began with a company called Arbonne, and she never would have dream. By attending one of those MLM presentations she became educated about making healthier choices in her life. The event was simply a catalyst. A researcher at heart...Shimniok went home that evening and started digging in and doing myher own research. She embraced whole food living and eliminated many processed foods from her diet. She learned to meditate and envisioned herself healthy and whole.
