Homemade Weed Killer
Jerry Baker Formula
Jesse Shimniok enjoyed organic lawn care and was a huge fan of Jerry Baker. This recipe was found in his notes after he passed away. 1 gallon white vinegar 2 cups epsom salt (stir to dissolve) 1/4 c. Dawn original (blue) dish soap Put in to lawn sprayer and use. |
Hydrogen Peroxide as a Weed Killer
Hydrogen peroxide is a natural weed killer! In 2022 Shimniok successfully diluted 35% strength to about 15% and killed weeds growing in the landscape rocks and between cracks on the driveway after reading about it on the internet. For a strong strain of poison ivy growing on my south lot line, the diluted solution did not do the trick. However, all signs indicate that an application of 35% hydrogen peroxide killed the plant…I hope all the way to the root. The spring of 2023 will show the rest of the story. For more uses for H2O2 in the garden please visit bulkperoxide.com Be aware of expiration dates on your bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide as it does break down overtime, and you are left with plain water. Once it stops bubbling, it has no benefit as described in this article. |
