Shingles. For many, this is a recurring, painful incident. If you are in pain, in a pinch - GRAB the healthiest oil you have from the kitchen cupboard and apply it...then come back and read this article.
Shingles is a dormant herpes zoster virus in the body, the same virus that contributes to chickenpox. It is often experienced by people in their 40s plus, primarily women, who are in a period of stress in their lives. Once you have had shingles you are likely to have repeat occurrences. Shingles pain is in reality, nerve ending inflammation. Fatty acids will do wonders to calm and heal those nerves. You may already have soothing oils in your kitchen cupboard. Try one or a blend of the following oils - Avocado oil, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, safflower, and Vitamin E oil (Jason's brand is pure and readily available at retail stores). Combine equal portions in small amounts at first, to see what works before making a larger batch if the lesion areas are quite abundant. Nutrition is key. Focus on an anti-inflammatory diet, which would mean avoiding food groups that typically contribute to inflammation: gluten/wheat, dairy, sugar, alcohol, soy, and peanuts. Some individuals may even find that eggs contribute to inflammation, which may manifest as aches and pains in the joints or sinus issues. Garlic has anti-viral properties, and quercetin, a flavonoid found in a number of foods such as onions, broccoli, kale, and dark berries, not only contains anti-oxidant properties but is anti-inflammatory as well. Capers reportedly contain the greatest amount of quercetin. Supplementation will speed the recovery process. Vitamin D3 with K2 is important. During a bout of painful shingles 10,000 IUs of D3 daily for two weeks may be helpful, reducing to 5000 IUs per day thereafter. Rather than a capsule, we HIGHLY recommend Castor Oil, which is a whole food version, readily absorbed, and offers a perfect balance of Retinol A as well, which will help with recovery. Anti-oxidants are powerful free radical scavengers. Both berries and dark greens are wonderful sources of anti-oxidants. Avoid juices containing added sugars. Organic juice concentrates are recommended if fresh or frozen organic cannot be sourced. Berry favorites include aronia (also known as choke-cherry, so named for its dryness), elder, schisandra, acai, baobab, and super greens such as chlorella, spirulina, and again - broccoli. Medicinal mushrooms are reported to be helpful in alleviating shingles. In the northern midwest chaga mushrooms may be found on birch trees. Well known medicinal mushrooms such as reishi, turkey tail, and cordyceps – often found as a blended dried powder, are often available in capsule form or in powder form from a health food store. |
Herbs are powerful. Drinking herbal teas, taking tinctures or herbal extracts can shorten the period of time one experiences shingles pain. Excellent anti-viral herbs include lemon balm, oregano, calendula, echinacea (the flowering heads of your purple coneflowers, perhaps in your garden, can be brewed for tea), olive leaf, licorice root and astragalus root. Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) contains flavonoids that have been used for centuries to treat herpes simplex viruses and is an herb of choice for shingles treatment. Drink lemon balm tea through the day, or take 20-30 drops of a lemon balm tincture 3-4 times a day during an outbreak.
Certain herbs are known to be of help with nerve repair/regeneration such as Skullcap (which also helps to alleviate the stress and anxiety that contributes to shingles), Holy Basil leaf, Ashwagandha root, Kava Kava root, Feverfew, and Motherwort. Fresh herbs are always best for the greatest potency. Out of season, herbal tinctures or extracts are made with fresh herbs for use during winter or when herbs are not freshly available. Tinctures are alcohol based have a very long shelf-life, whereas extracts are glycerin based. Adding drops of a tincture to a cup of hot tea, and allowing it to sit ten minutes, will allow the alcohol to evaporate and leave the polyphenols of the herb behind, in the water. Chickweed, a common lawn weed, helps to alleviate itching and rashes. It can also draw poisons out of an open wound when used as an infusion. To make an herbal decoction pick one cup fresh chickweed (early morning or evening) and add to a pint of filtered water that has been brought to a low boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Cool and use it externally to wash the lesions. As mentioned earlier, shingles is a suppressed virus that manifests under stressful conditions. Awareness of what contributes to your stress prior to breakouts will help guide you in how to manage and reduce such precursors. Mindful mediation and deep breathing can help. If you find it difficult to meditate, instead find music that soothes while you practice deep breathing. Solfeggio frequencies provide healing sound therapy and may be found on YouTube at no cost.. Solfeggio 174 serves two imbalances associated with shingles as it helps with both pain and stress. Another Solfeggio selection to listen to may be 528 hertz, which helps to mend DNA. We recommend the recordings by Meditative Mind, found on YouTube. |
How can Qest4 bio-energetics help? If one is prone to shingles it is an indicator that you have a dormant virus. What if you could neutralize that virus, so that it lessens the severity of the outbreak, and perhaps even say good-bye to shingles in the future? Shingles, as do all pathogens, have a frequency or signature associated with them energetically. Our bodies absorb frequencies daily – although many of them are toxins in the environment. As our bodies are always working to achieve homeostasis or perfect balance, the immune system is constantly working to eliminate the daily exposure of pathogens. Rebalancing the body though bio-energetics and frequency rebalancing drops, which would contain a person’s specific shingles frequency if scanned by a certified Qest4 practitioner, will help to neutralize the undesired frequency more readily than letting the virus run its course.
