Then there was the grapefruit diet - do you remember this? Well, it was founded with good scientific reason. Grapefruit actually help a person shed excess water weight. Whether a person is carrying water weight from lack of oxygen in the cells (oxidative stress), or a person has edema from medications - the GRAPEFRUIT is God's natural diuretic.
My husband had edema from taking Oxycontin and Oxycodeine pain medication. Thes powerful narcotics cause edema, not to mention constipation (allowing toxins to build up), and the drugs also compromise the immune system, can promote fluid in the lungs, causing pneumonia, and shut down the nervous system as well when on the prescription too long...aka atrophy can result.
As we work with Mike "Doc" Witort for my husband's cancer (I hope I did not find Mike too late!) - he was quick to note that I am retaining water. I had noticed in pictures recently that my legs were much larger than a year ago when I started wearing shorts. It did not dawn on me that the stress is causing water retention, and of course, stressor food choices were also not helping.
"Doc" added grapefruit to my husband's diet to help the water disperse from his body, and I have started eating it as well. It is amazing how much weight a person can lose when they are shedding water. Ever lift a gallon of water? It weighs approximately 8 lbs. As I increase my oxygen levels by going almost exclusively vegan (except for White Planet tuna), no refined flour breads or yeast products, and drinking Arbonne's Greens Balance, protein shakes, and GRAPEFRUIT - I am impressed by rapid weight loss.
So if you want to reduce edema, shed water weight - eat pletny of grapefruit (be careful if you are on meds for water retention - they don't want you taking something natural when a pill can handle it, and your meds may have warnings - so talk with your doctor always please). If you find grapefruit to be a little sour for your tastebuds - be sure to get the Ruby Reds - they are always sweeter. A little honey can sweeten them up as well - NOT refined granulated sugar. RAW Honey is a God sugar, and has many healing properties.
Feel great, look great, llive great!
