I have only a bit of goldenrod growing on my property, so this morning's walk was a mission. I found a lovely patch on a wooded path nearby. Goldenrod has so many medicinal benefits - but is especially great for allergies. Many believe it causes allergies, but that is simply because ragweed blooms at the same time...make no mistake, God times the bloom of goldenrod with the ragweed season - in other words, He provides the remedy for the allergy sufferers living in misery. Goldenrod contains quercetin which is a power anti-histamine, and in addition this plant has an anti-inflammatory effect throughout the entire body. "Goldenrod addresses imbalances within our internal eco-system", as Yarrow puts it, as it has anti-fungal properties as well. Make a tea with the blooms. Be sure to harvest from pesticide and herbicide free areas, and leave some blooms for the bees as well. Drinking the tea prior to fall allergy season will provide a prophylactic effect.
