With a quiet weekend ahead, we made the decision to self-treat ourselves with various modalities of self care...and I am happy to report we have already noticed positive results. I will share what modalities we used below.
A reminder to our PMA members: How to use a nebulizer is information provided in the Member Resources tab of the Purely Living Wellness website. Annual membership is $5 per household with access to information posted on the website.
I have said in the past that every home should have a nebulizer on hand. If children are in the home be sure to obtain ta nebulizer with pediatric masks for treatments. Kids have spent the past several years having their oxygen supply hindered by masks, and respiratory issues have increased as a result. With an increase of RSV reported in children – it is important to be prepared, not scared.
Three Modalities in Our Self-Care Weekend
- BioMat. I treated myself in my BioMat therapy room - including a "sandwich" where I lie on the full length BioMat and place the mini BioMat over my upper body. The Saturday BioMat session resulted in quite a purge - it was great!! My partner had the same treatment. It is important to drink lots of water, I prefer distilled, after an infrared treatment with BioMats. It is similar to a sauna treatment without the large unit taking up floor space.
- Nebulize. Have you ever nebulized with saline/3% food grade hydrogen peroxide solution just because? If not, you may want to consider. Several years ago during the 'demic I read a lot about the benefits of nebulizing, and front line doctors were huge proponents of it. Especially for their patients in rural areas who were many hours from a hospital. Dr. David Brownstein in Michigan reported that nebulizing hydrogen peroxide and iodine in a saline solution saved the lives of several – and he never lost a patient to the novel corona virus. I also read a number of wonderful testimonies from people who suffered from asthma which cleared up with regular nebulizing, COPD, etc. I had to wonder if I were to nebulize on a regular basis, several times a week, if my snoring would lessen. My gut instinct says yes.
Now that I have started this self-care, at long last, and have the nebulizer set up, my plan is to spend 15 minutes three evenings a week. It apparently loosens up "ick" and is a non-toxic expectorant. Perhaps I can dislodge all the stuff that has built up through my 60 years of life. As well, treatments are going to increase my body’s oxygen levels. (PMA members received an article earlier in the year about hydrogen peroxide therapy.) - Herbal Menthol Rub. Thirdly, this past weekend a menthol rub from my favorite Utah herbalist had arrived and I was eager to try it out. I cringed at the ingredients of the Ben-Gay rub my partner was using and wanted to get a product that was "clean". Since I bought it for him, I decided to try it, too, and rubbed it around my neck and upper chest. My partner and I have been together 5 yrs. now and this weekend was the first time ever that he did not need to put in ear plugs for my snoring. Isn't that interesting!? Before I consider the menthol rub God’s gift to those who have sleepless nights due to a snoring partner, I will wait to give a full report for a month to see if the trend continues.
If you have a chronic lung condition and feel like breathing should not be such a struggle – have you considered nebulizing? A portable nebulizer does not provide the same results, be certain to invest in a jet style unit. Talk to your trusted medical professional and hopefully they will support your desire to breathe more easily, and quietly, and script you for a nebulizer.
Shalom!
