Not all tonic waters have quinine, but the ones that do are in high demand because of quinine, reportedly a preventative in Covid 19. Personally I have used White Rock for a number of years as it is one of the few tonic waters that do not contain high fructose corn syrup. In Canada - you can get Canada Dry without high fructose corn syrup - but not here in the United States, to my knowledge.
Where we typically purchase White Rock tonic water, we learned it is a vendor stocked item...and it is restocked every day. AND every day it is sold out! I guess if it were convenient I would line up outside the door of the particular grocery store a half hour before it opens and make a bee line for the aisle that contains tonic water.
If you are looking for quinine...I can provide this recipe below so you can make your own. Now, I just need to learn how to make tonic water...I suppose it is one of those fizz making machines...but honestly, I don''t need the fizz. I can probably make the citrus peel water below and still enjoy a gin and tonic for our Friday night cribbage game.
Here's a healthy recipe option for you... A recipe for homemade "hydroxychloroquine":
3 organic grapefruit
3 organic lemons
Peel them, the white stuff is fine to include.
Place in pot w/glass lid with good quality filtered water 3" above peels. You will have to weigh down/hold down the peels.
Simmer for 3 hrs.without lifting lid.
Cool for 3 hrs.
Pour into 2 qt. size jars
Take 2 TBSP. twice a day.
Have you been hoarding tonic water with quinine? I am curious.
Speaking of hoarding...there is a supply chain issue that is only going to get worse. I suspect there will be shortages this winter of a number of items that may be considered essentials. I ordered a bidet today!!
For certain, with inflation setting new records the price of basic goods and foods are going to skyrocket. I am trying to stock non-perishables as a bit of extra cash becomes available, to feed my family for a few months...even if only rice and beans. Basmati and brown rice have the same glycemic index, just as an FYI. However, I recently learned that brown rice also contains a natural oil, and therefore must be used in approximately six months, or be stored in the freezer or refrigerator.
Was this helpful? I hope so - we are definitely entering into a new era...but in truth, history is repeating itself.
